School's Out for Summer!!

Mags and Trent eagerly awaiting Kels and Connor's homecoming on the last day of school, ready to head to the trailer soon! We hope to leave on Friday (30th) for a 10 day holiday. Hooray!! Happy Canada Day all!

To celebrate we made Strawberry Daquiris (slushies) and lounged around!

Waterworks Park

One evening we went to Waterworks Park with the kids, enjoyed a McDonald's sundae surrounded by God's beautiful creation and walked over the bridges in the park to enjoy more beauty. The water lilies were just beginning to open, turtles were popping their heads above the water and loads of (huge) goldfish graced the ponds. The kids were thrilled!!! The gardens were amazing as well. Unfortunately my camera card was almost full so no pics of the gardens...

This is the tree that Bri and I had wedding pics taken under, oh, 14 years ago!! I just had to get a picture of the kids here and then remembered how blessed we are with our 4 healthy, happy (most of the time) kids.

What we've been up to...

Wow! Where has the month of June gone? The kids have wrapped up all their music lessons for the summer, their school trips have been had, soccer has just begun and now we eagerly await summer vacation (2 more days)!! Have a look at what we've been up to...

Emergency Response Day at the local community centre. Connor and Anson's class attended this affair and Mags, Trent and I tagged along, lots of fun!

Connor went to Greenview Aviaries for his year end trip. What a great place for kids. Lots of animals, a great play area and not too long a drive. Bri went on this excursion and had a nice bonding day with Con and Anson.

KELSEY'S SCHOOL TRIP

I went on this trip and what a great day it was! The weather was beautiful and the day was filled with sports (gotta love that!) It was so well organized and we ended the day with a tennis lesson. Kels and I have decided to take up the sport of tennis this summer. Look out courts, here we come!

Someone wake me up and tell me it was all a bad dream...

Tomorrow, June 25th, is the 2 year anniversary of my mom's brain injury. In some ways it seems like just yesterday when we were in a state of shock, driving back and forth to University hospital to sit by her bedside daily uncertain of the future. In other ways it seems like such a long time ago that she would come bounding in the front door with a smile on her face, up for anything and so long ago that we would talk on the phone into the wee hours of the night. If only I knew that that Friday morning was going to be the last time I could I have meaningful conversation with my mom, I would have said alot more. I am glad that we left with the parting words...Love you! Oh how I miss her, well for that matter we ALL miss her. Some days you think you've come to accept this but then other days you go to bed sobbing, wishing she could share in the important things in your/others lives. I have to continually remind myself that God had given me a wonderful and godly mother (and example) for 33 years of my life, more than alot of kids have had and all those years were filled with love, laughter and learning; all for which I am truly grateful. But then there is also the human side that is envious when I see a mother with her grown daughter and kids, and the grandmother is doting on the kids...something my kids will never have again from my mom. Many days I wake up (even after 2 years) and think, did that really happen or was I dreaming. Unfortunately, the only dreams I do wake up from are the ones where she has recovered completely and out shopping with us or on a trip to Myrtle Beach once again. As a Christian, I do believe that God has given me/us the strength to cope with this tragedy, it's not easy of course as we face it everyday, but we also are comforted in the fact that He listens to our prayers, catches all our tears and holds us in the palm of His hand and of course that someday our dear mother will be made whole once again in heaven. Even though I/we cannot understand why this happened to Mom and may never know we have to believe that God makes no mistakes and stand on the promise that all things work together for good to those who love God. Help us Lord in the coming days.

Summer, Summer, Summertime!!

Mags, Trent and Ash enjoyed eachother's company last weekend while Kev and Carole and Ashleigh were down. It was nice to see you guys again, it was wonderful to see Carole growing...can't wait to see the little bambino...2 more months, you look great Carole and thanks for a nice visit. We both love to garden, so gardening was the hot topic. They left St. T with a hatchback full of greenery, like a jungle in there eh Kev? Happy gardening!!

Mags, who is virtuely tireless, played so hard one day this past week that while reading the Bible Story at suppertime, she flaked out...she slept 13 1/2 hours that night!!

Connor begged to try his hand at lawn cutting, funny thing is in a couple of years it won't be a treat any longer but rather a chore, oh well, we'll take it while we can without any complaints!!
